Bill has over thirty years of leadership experience in software development, project management, administration, and support in the medical, software, retail, and manufacturing industries.

He has been a leader in projects utilizing DEC VAX midrange systems, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, 2000 and NT, IBM mainframes and AS/400 i/Series servers. His deep technical prowess has allowed him to lead projects utilizing Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, reporting tools from Microsoft, Business Objects/Crystal Reports, Cognos, Macromedia, ReportSmith and others. Bill has led projects mentoring groups in developing ETL solutions for data warehousing business intelligence, developing web and windows forms applications with .NET, and building database solutions with SQL and OLAP. Bill has extensive experience at Mayo interfacing many Mayo systems with specialization in utilizing lab results from disparate systems. He authored a SAMS Publishing Teach Yourself ODBC in 21 Days book and was invited by Microsoft to speak at several Tech-Ed conferences in America and Europe. He was recognized as an industry leader in bringing ODBC to market and widening its use across disparate platforms.

n As owner of his own consulting company, Mr. Whiting has focused his consulting on data warehouse, business intelligence and .NET technologies. His specialties include relational database design and administration, data access technologies and architecting .NET systems utilizing SQL Server.

n Recently Bill has created many ad-hoc .NET projects for a variety of clients. These include multiple large web-based surveys for a medical association in Chicago. This job also featured mentoring of a developer and dba in .NET usage including VB.NET, ASP.NET and ADO.NET. His latest project has been multiple .NET Windows form applications for tracking clients and volunteers at a regional food bank.

n While unable to reveal specifics due to Non-Disclosure Agreements, Bill has participated in many long-term technical beta programs for Microsoft. He was also active with .NET when it was released in public beta. He enhanced his knowledge of .NET, its usage, tools, tips and tricks by attending Microsoft’s TechEd conference in 2002 which was dedicated to .NET. Since that time he has used ASP.NET, VB.NET, Visual Studio .NET and the managed provider for SQL Server 2000 as well as the Everett Visual Studio 2003 .NET beta and is currently in another .NET technical testing program under non-disclosure.

n Bill has developed complex GUI front-ends using 32-bit Visual C++ with the MFC libraries. These applications have also included the use of ADO, OLE DB, and ODBC for data access to SQL Server, DB2, Oracle and other data sources. He has been webmaster and developer for client’s web sites. In the course of his consulting and development work he has also extensively used Visual Basic, COBOL on mainframe and other platforms, Mainframe Assembler, SQL and HTML.

n Recognized as an industry expert, Bill Whiting spoke at Database & Client/Server World in Toronto on the topic of Distributed Common Object Model (DCOM) development.

n Mr. Whiting was a leader in providing consulting services for integration of various environments, as well as customer training and telephone support for all AS/400 and Windows products as well as products developed as part of their partnership with Hyperion / Arbor.

n Bill designed and developed several training programs that he then presented in the classroom or at client sites. He also mentored fellow consultants on teaching the programs he authored. He was in constant demand world-wide to consult on multi-platform system integration projects. His role in these engagements covered the entire development cycle from needs analysis to deployment follow-up, as appropriate.

n Mr. Whiting has spoken as an industry expert in multi-system database integration at many seminars and conferences around the world. He has also created and presented many training classes in the corporate training center and at client sites.

n Bill has spoken at the invitation of Microsoft at several industry technical conferences in the United States and Europe. He has given lectures and training programs throughout America, as well as in several countries in Europe, in South Africa and Singapore.

n Mr. Whiting was responsible for the operational support of systems in four cardiac intensive care units. He conducted regular meetings with user groups to prioritize maintenance requests and evaluate system status; he assigned tasks to team members and verified successful completion.

n Mr. Whiting led the team that developed a state-of-the-art LAN gateway system to interface the cardiac monitor LAN with the ICU system LAN. This gateway was developed on an OS/2 system using socket-level TCP/IP calls. He trained the medical staff on system usage when he rolled it into production.
